At Oak + Walnut, we take great pride in every piece of solid hardwood furniture we build. Each item is made to order, handcrafted, and hand-finished using premium solid wood. Because of this, natural variation is not only expected — it is celebrated.

No two trees are alike, and no two Oak + Walnut pieces will ever be completely identical. These natural characteristics are what make handcrafted furniture authentic and one of a kind.

By placing an order with Oak + Walnut, you acknowledge and accept the standards outlined below.

Craftsmanship & Natural Wood Variation

Every piece will display unique grain patterns, tonal variation, and natural character inherent to solid hardwood. Exact color or grain matching between pieces, past projects, or photos cannot be guaranteed.

Common characteristics of handcrafted, solid wood furniture may include (but are not limited to):

  • Natural grain and color variation

  • Open knots (filled on top surfaces for smoothness when applicable)

  • Textural variation, distressing, or surface character

  • Small nicks, splits, cracks, or other organic imperfections

  • Metal variation such as weld texture or natural oxidation

These features are not defects, but hallmarks of handmade furniture.

Due to the custom nature of our work, we allow up to ±1 inch of variation in overall dimensions.

Finishes, Stain & Color Expectations

Wood absorbs stain differently based on species, grain, and surface preparation. While we apply the exact finish selected, exact color matches cannot be guaranteed.

  • We do not guarantee an exact stain color match from photos.

  • Screen displays vary, and colors may appear different in person.

  • Finish samples are strongly recommended prior to ordering.

Once a piece is finished, stain or finish work cannot be re-done due to natural wood variation.

Product Photography & Specifications

We make every effort to accurately represent our furniture through photography; however, each piece is made specifically to order and will vary from photos shown.

Oak + Walnut does not offer machine-manufactured perfection. If absolute uniformity is required, handcrafted furniture may not be the right fit.

Warranty

Oak + Walnut furniture is covered by a limited residential warranty. Warranty coverage does not apply to:

  • Furniture sold “as-is” or heavily distressed

  • Floor samples or second-hand items

  • Commercial use

  • Pieces altered after delivery

  • Items unable to be delivered due to fit or access limitations

Warranty terms apply only within the contiguous United States.

Returns, Corrections & Refunds

In the rare event of a manufacturing error or verified transit damage (properly noted at delivery), Oak + Walnut will work to correct the issue.

Because our furniture is custom made to order:

  • Orders cannot be modified after 24 hours

  • Custom furniture is final sale

  • Natural wood characteristics are not considered defects

Transit damage or defects must be reported within 24 hours of delivery and clearly noted on delivery documentation.

If a return is approved due to damage or defect, return fees of 15% of the purchase price (excluding shipping) apply. Shipping fees are non-refundable.

Furniture unable to be delivered due to sizing, access, or fit issues is not eligible for return.
